Internet chat rooms can be very dangerous if not used properly and abused. Most people think chat rooms are just a bit of fun and no serious damage can ever really come of it because you are behind your computer screen. People who believe that are either the younger users of internet chat rooms or fools because the dangers are very real, bad things can happen to anyone it just depends who the abuser targets. So what can you do? feed your brain with the knowledge of pinpointing the dangers understanding the so obvious triggers to when you know something bad is either about to happen or someone is trying to get information to do something bad. I used the word obvious because I've had over 10 years experience with IRC (internet relay chat), but to a person who is less experienced with internet chat rooms they aren't that easy to detect which is why it's so important to treat users of the chat rooms with respect and read up on how to keep yourself safe in chat rooms.

Personal Information

We strongly urge adults not to give out personal information in our chat rooms. Just a couple days ago we had a problem a girl came into the adult chat rooms, befriended another users and was worried because they got into an arguement and the other member threatend to give out not just her personal phone number but all three phone numbers. We will not be held responsible for anything that happens on the chat rooms regarding situations simaler to that. Under no circumstances is users under the age of 18 allowed to give out personal information that determinds them as an invididual. This could be a phone number, home address, detailed information regarding where they will be at a certain time. If any of the younger chatters are caught doing so they are banned permanently for putting themselves at risk and jepordizing our chat sites integrity.

Often you will receive a random link from a person you have never spoken to before telling you "this site is the greatest! everyone goes there". Put one and one together, if it was a legitimate website which was popular why would it be illegally spammed through a chat site? 9 times out of 10 it's just a person trying to promote his own site, but hackers do use chat rooms to exploit innocent peoples computers and control them making you perform illegal activites without you knowing it. Report any weblinks posted to you in private to the moderators of the #Help chat room and never under any circumstances click the link.

Reporting Suspicious Activity

Problems that we have in our adult chat rooms are old men posing as cute young girls telling you everything you want to hear to lure you into there quick money making scheme. From an experienced chat room users point of view these people are easy to spot, they have luring names and spend little time chatting with you before popping the big question. "Go to this site and sign up" where it will nine times out of ten ask you for credit card information, people that do this need to be reported straight away to the #Help room. This is just one method of suspicious activity that should be reported, you can report anything you feel may be a threat to the users of the chat to the #Help room.

Asking Us

Never be afraid to join the #Help chat room and ask questions about safety or to investigate suspicious people even if you are unsure or feel stupid about the question. You could contribute to catching people out that others were nieve enough to believe and were dooped by a hacker or a scam.
